- Patients age 5 and older are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. *Pediatric doses (5-11 years of age) currently unavailable at any Chancy Drugs location*
- Patients age 18 years and older are able to receive the Moderna vaccine.
Individuals (16 years and older) who have completed either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine series are eligible for a booster shot at 5 months or more after their initial series. Individuals 65 years of age and older and individuals that are immunocompromised (18 years of age and older) are eligible for a second booster dose after 4 months of their first booster dose.
- CDC now recommends that adolescents age 12 to 17 years old should receive a booster shot 5 months after their initial Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination series. Data show that COVID-19 boosters help broaden and strengthen protection against Omicron and other SARS-CoV-2 variants. ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’) reviewed the available safety data following the administration of over 25 million vaccine doses in adolescents; COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. At this time, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is authorized and recommended for adolescents aged 12-17.
- For individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago. CDC’s recommendations now allow the mix and match dosing for booster shots.
